Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is designed to allow students to explore through play! I live by the quote, "If a child can't learn the way you teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn." Ignacio Estrada.

I am constantly trying to find new ways to improve my teaching while fueling success for all of my students!

My classroom is filled with eighteen, energetic, 4 and 5-year-old students. They are all motivated by success and have a huge passion to learn. On any given day I can ask them if they are ready for a busy day; they will always respond with an unanimous yes! My students are willing to not only learn, but teach their peers when they can. Our school is located in the Bronx. Our first second program hopes to provide the best education possible with the supplies available to us.

My Project

Problem solving is a skill that I continuously try to engage my students in. The Crystal Building Blocks will give students the opportunity to see the difference in the materials they use. These blocks will be utilized with and without the light table showing students the concept of transparency. The Magna Tiles Kit will allow students the opportunity to explore geometry concepts. The Bridge Building Engineering Center engages students in all steps of engineering. It provides students real life images of bridges to inspire their designs as well as various building materials.

One of the best way to exercise problem solving skills is through engineering activities.

Engineering activities allow students the opportunity to create, design, build while problem solving at every step along the way. These tools will provide my students with hands-on materials that will foster their engineering skills.
