Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher in a low-come/high poverty school district. Despite the many challenges my students face, they look forward to coming to school where I provide creativity and meaningful experiences. My students come in with a smile excited to know what our daily plans are, which are memorable to them.

As I prepare my first grade students for college and careers, I also remind them that learning can be fun.

My students excel even though the odds are against them with all the challenges they face at home and at school.

My Project

My students are eager first graders from a high poverty public school. My 1st grade students come to school everyday with a passion of learning and engaging in learning. They come from different backgrounds and have different life stories. By the end of this school year, I want all my students to be on grade level with their reading, using technology.

The desire to learn to use a variety of technology is very high in first grade.

My students do not have access to technology at home and have limited resources at school. They are growing up and want to feel like they are acquiring more adult skills. It is important to tap into these desires to encourage them to explore new areas and learn new things.

Students will use the Chromebooks to explore the world. They will be able to learn through engaging games such as RAZKids, ABC Mouse, Starfall, Mathletics, and other great programs with the use of the online resources. Students will use the headphones to be able to listen without distractions within the classroom.
