My Project

We are implementing a cell phone-free policy this school year! There are apprehensions, excitement, and concerns about how to keep students engaged. We're going cell phone-free because we want students to have positive self-esteem and be academically conscious.

These activities and games that I am requesting will help students socialize with their peers, stay stimulated when there's downtime, and give them opportunities to explore new passions.

My number one goal for this project is for students to be engaged with their peers. Socializing is so important, and unfortunately, cell phones have interrupted students' social development.

Our student population is very unique and special because of its diversity in language, 50 + languages are spoken, race, and ethnicity. The chances are high that one student who was born, say in Indonesia, will find another student who was born in Indonesia. That does not happen regularly at other schools in our district. Our former principal called our school an international school.
