Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We all know technology is constantly changing our society, but the school budget can't seem to find the best way to connect with our students. In a time where children are so technologically advanced it only seems natural to challenge them educationally in a way they will enjoy!

Our public school class is full of vibrant personalities that love school, and more importantly love learning.

We reside in New York City, in a very low socioeconomic community. Although we may not have all the necessary resources to succeed, these students make up for that with their perseverance and determination living by the phrase "College is not an idea, it's the Plan!". With a very diverse population, mostly from the Caribbean and South America, these students struggle with language and communication. Fortunately, with the limitless amount of resources online we can tackle any academic issues in a fun, interactive way that keeps everyone engaged.

My Project

Our class phrase" College is not an idea, it's the Plan!" has greatly inspired my students as well as myself. With the addition of this iPad my students and future classes will have the ability to be in a more hands on interactive classroom. The benefits of technology in a school that struggles with English proficiency are endless. Students who have difficulties in math will now be able to access our online bilingual math program. Students who struggle in reading will also have access to numerous reading, phonics, and vocabulary programs. Most importantly, students will now have educationally based rewards through technology that will motivate them to achieve their dreams.

Your generous donation will greatly impact the future of these students, whether it helps them become a little more confident in their reading ability or gives them that extra support they needed in math class.

Knowing that you helped support not just one child or one class, but several classes to come is so rewarding. These students are motivated by technology and this will help in the overall plan of college readiness.
