My Students

My school is a highly diverse Title I school that serves many different kids from different backgrounds and countries. Although we serve Vanguard or gifted and talented, a lot of our students are economically disadvantaged background.

We work really hard to improve and encourage students to improve their reading levels and their math skills.

My students live using manipulative, funny books, and games that help them learn. They love hearing a great book with good story elements and illustrations to see!!!

My Project

I have found some amazing games that will create engaging stations that will hold the students attention. The games will help make learning fun and create dialogue that will build their long term memory.

Students in grade 1 must pass a High Frequency Word Test of 125 words by the end of the year.

The teaching tool where they get to press a button and hear the words is an amazing reinforcement and teaching tool to use to help them gain more word knowledge. This will be of great help to me as I work with other students I will know that my lower kids are getting help. The fishing high frequency game will be a fun way to reinforce the kids sight words while they fish. I can pair my high students with my lower students to have them teach each other.

The magnetic coins that I can put on the board will allow the students to follow along with me using their coins.

I can use the matching puzzles and have the students get in groups as a whole group lesson to create dialogue between the students and as a engaging way for them to work together to grasp math objectives being taught. My students have know identify their 3d shapes and their attributes. It will be really nice and more orderly for each table to be able to have their own bucket and not have to share with other tables. Having the magnetic shapes will help them use creativity and understand the importance of learning why we shold learn about shapes.

The couch and the colorful chairs will create a more relaxing and inviting class library that will encourage them to want to grab their favorite book or leveled book to sit down and
