Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year, as in my previous year teaching, we will have a tremendous amount of incoming students that only speak Spanish. These are children that have come from all areas of Central America and are now making their homes in NYC. Because they come with little knowledge of the English language, this project is filled with resources to help them succeed in a middle school ELA classroom.

The earbuds will allow them to access digital curriculum in both Spanish and English at any point in the lesson.

The earbuds will also ensure they are practicing their language learning in a way that allows them to hear the word sounds they need to master in their new language. The dictionaries and thesauruses will allow the students hands on experiences with studying words, definitions, synonyms and antonyms to deepen their vocabulary acquisition.

The wipes will help us keep our full classroom clean and germ-free! I have 32 students in all 3 of my ELA classes, so this will help us stay healthy. And because many of my students do not have time to eat breakfast before they come to school, the breakfast bars will give them the energy they need to stay focused and engaged in learning.

Many of my students have experienced things in their lives that no one should have to. My goal is to always create a safe and welcoming environment so that they can learn and grow to their fullest potential, and I know these supplies would definitely help!
