A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are special because they inspire me. They inspire me to see the world as a force for good. They focus on the positive aspects of life and don't dwell on the things they can't change. We teach Stephen Covey's 7 habits of highly effective people and I'm always impressed at how well my little first graders are able to relate and implement those habits into their academic and personal lives. They know what it means to be proactive, put first things first, and think win-win.
We are bucket fillers!
At our school, we put a lot of emphasis on service and teaching our scholars to help each other and "fill buckets." It warms my heart when one of my students comes up to me and says something like, "My friend shared his ball with me! He filled my bucket!" We also help students learn how to manage their emotions when others "dip from their bucket" and do or say things that aren't nice. We teach our children to develop a lifelong love of learning, leadership, and service.
My Project
I am able to differentiate instruction in my classes by using online learning resources. Unfortunately, I do not have the money to buy every scholar in my class a comfortable, durable pair of headphones. The headphones they bring from home usually break quickly or they just aren't good quality. With this project funded, I will be able to provide every student with the same headphones, making their online experience more meaningful. Since many scholars are still working on their reading skills, being able to listen to their lessons will enhance their learning.
Durable headphones will make it easier for scholars learning in the classroom and at home.
I also want to make their classroom experience easier by providing chair pouches that will be used to organize their desk belongings. These pouches will help keep their materials safe and will provide better access to them when transitioning tasks.
Lastly, these read aloud books will be great for helping to teach writing, specifically writing informative and opinion paragraphs. They will be engaging and fun and a great way to introduce and discuss different types of writing.
