Engaging Minds Through Sensory Learning

My Project

The sensory bins and materials I'm requesting will provide my K-8 special education students with hands-on, interactive tools that make learning more accessible and engaging. Since I've recently acquired a color printer and have a personal laminator, I can laminate any academic activity and have the student find it in the sensory ben wth sand, and help them grasp and retain concepts through sensory exploration. For example, tactile tools like sand and manipulatives will support letter and number recognition.

My students are creative but need tools to be motivated to engage in academic tasks.

My students need more opportunities to use their senses to regulate their emotions and be productive in the general educational setting. They come from diverse backgrounds in a Title I school, where resources can be limited, yet they show great potential to learn. Each student has unique strengths and learning styles, and they thrive when given opportunities to engage with materials that align with their needs.

My students face challenges such as staying motivated, occasional defiance, or gaps in academic skills. Some students sometimes struggle to follow directions and are not as engaged in the content as they could be with sensory tools.

I am excited to help these students become their best selves; I want them to be motivated by hands-on activities and learn to persevere when solving problems. With interactive learning, I can meet students where they are in a fun and engaging way. They will feel loved and supported.
