This project will benefit the English Language Development class at Palms Middle School. The students in this class range from 6th grade to 8th grade. They are all recent immigrants to the United States and come from countries around the world. The students in this class represent 9 different countries outside of the US and 6 different languages. Although these students are just learning to read and comprehend English, they have all fallen in love with the Who HQ books. They find these books engaging and easy to understand despite the English barrier. Students enjoy learning about historical figures and events that are important to American culture. Together, students voted on what topics they were interested in and selected Stan Lee and the San Francisco Earthquake. Purchasing these books will be helpful so that students can learn both English and important information in engaging and interesting ways.
