Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

For several years now, I have had a collection of games and toys for when the moment arises to provide some free time. One thing I have noticed, time and time again, is that there are two that are incredibly popular: Building blocks and Guess Who! Without knowing it, the students are drawn to games that are helping them to build their vocabulary and to practice sharing and constructing together.

This project aims to provide my class with more of these popular games, in order to foster sharing, working together, and building up social language skills.

Being able to work on these crucial skills through play based activities leaves the learning in the students' hands, but it is a natural by-product of their choice of game.

Blocks also make great "morning work" bins for when the students arrive before the school day begins and need an engaging learning activity until it is time to start our day. With your help, we can provide this year's second grade students with a fun and engaging way to build those very necessary social skills and social language!
