My Students

A typical day in my classroom starts off with a smile! School is a place where my students feel welcome and loved every day.

My fifth graders come from many different walks of life.

My classroom is composed of a large percentage of students receiving free/reduced-price lunch, as well as a variety of backgrounds and needs.

My thoughtful and inquisitive fifth graders come to school excited and eager to learn, despite the challenges of learning through a pandemic. Our classroom is a tight community of learners and enjoy spending it together as "family."

My Project

Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, students are coming into fifth grade with a variety of needs. Research has shown students learn more when they work collaboratively together, and these tools will help aid in that process.

My students need hands-on, engaging tools to work collaboratively through the learning process.

The supplies such as anchor chart paper, card stock, printer ink, and other basic supplies will be used daily in our classroom to create, organize and explain our learning.

My students also need hands-on, games to make learning fun. I will use the games and black lights along with our rigorous curriculum to make task cards and test prep questions to enhance engagement.

The students in my school also need a green screen backdrop and tripod. I have recently started an after-school news club where students are in charge of creating multimodal content such as digital newspapers, posters, and videos to highlight the good news happening at our school. This green screen and tripod will help give my students more experience working with multimodal tools.

Finally, in our classroom, we use Bear Bucks to support positive classroom expectations. Students practice financial literacy as they save and purchase items from our classroom store. The candy and sensory items will be used to stock our classroom store.
