Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty area in an urban setting, my students have limited access to books. Most of my students speak Spanish and are beginning to develop their love of reading in English.The nearest library is 4 miles away and it is challenging for some parents to take their children to the library without transportation.

I would like to develop and foster my students love for reading and language by providing them an accessible classroom library listening center.

My Project

My students are divided into small groups of 4 and 5 in our Language Arts Program. The students rotate around my classroom working on foundational skills.

My students are learning English for the first time and they need the extra support to listen and focus on correct language usage in a quiet manner.

I would like to have a listening center where they can focus on their reading and language skills. The Letter Sounds Activity Program would provide my students with an interactive approach to learning. Access to the latest advances in learning, will help my students acquire the skills they need to be productive individuals.
