Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school had 3 days to figure out how to help our 1,200 students learn and cope with the Coronavirus running wild through our city. The Bronx continues to have the highest number of confirmed cases in NYC (and the United States). But this hasn't meant that we have stopped learning or stopped pushing our students to be successful.

As a teacher, I am doing everything I can to make this time at home a propellent for students to fall in love with learning and build their independent learning skills for college.

Now my students are spread across the Bronx accessing their learning from their apartments and shelters. They use their phones or school provided laptops or tablets to complete their assignments on Google Classroom. They join their teachers via Google Meets for daily office hours where we provide targeted instruction and small group learning.

My Project

These resources will allow my students to have access to engaging lessons from home. With the document camera, I will be able to show exactly how to do a math problem or read an earth science reference table.

Learning at home doesn't have to be confusing or boring and with these tools I will be able to make lessons that engage my students no matter where they choose to learn.

These tools will allow me to turn my kitchen into an interactive learning center for all my students including my English Language Learners and students with IEPs that might need a little more visuals to help them deeply understand the content and the easel sticky pads will help them focus on what I am saying.
