Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We have asked our students what they would want to have in our classroom library to keep their reading stamina going as we transition to the second half of the year. These books will help us teach them literacy skills they need to succeed in class and beyond. Students have been hard at work reading their book club books that go along with our curriculum, but they would also like to read simply for the joy of it.

We would love to give the gift of reading to our students through books that motivate them to read.

Students have asked for books that represent their interests, backgrounds, cultures and traditions. We want our students to feel represented when they look through their classroom library. In addition, the books we've requested also go along with our Critical Literacy unit that talks about racial justice and representation.
