Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Colors, textures, and sounds can determine how engaged our students are during learning. Currently, our speech class has musical puzzles and a few touch and feel board books. The alphabet/food toys will help reinforce literacy skills and allow students to practice their social skills (e.g., asking/answering, describing). The sensory bins and sensory items will help them avoid sensory overload and learn to self-soothe in an appropriate manner. Sensory items can be used during table-top learning as hand manipulatives to minimize distractions or as short breaks between activities. We will be able to wash these sensory items which will allow us to reuse them and minimize waste.
