Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The items in this project would be used to support students with collaboration and community building. Last year students requested magna tiles, lego plates, and wax sticks for our classroom. These items would be used during our social emotional learning lessons, choice time, breakfast time, indoor recess time, and as manipulatives during various lessons.

Students can have a hard time connecting and these items would be used to help support building relationships among students.

One way students would use the magna tiles and wax sticks together is by creating and building shapes we are learning about. They would practice vocabulary words together like angles, lines, vertex, parallel, perpendicular, and so much more. Before getting to that, they would use them in the beginning of the year frequently to just play and connect.

Students would use the lego plates as a common place to build their lego creations whether it is building just for fun or building a scene for the story they are collaborating on together. These plates would also help ensure that all parts of their lego models stay together and do not get lost.
