Every morning when my students enter the classroom they are ready and eager to learn. Our school is a very diverse setting where all students are welcome and loved. My classroom alone is full of students from over five countries. Many of whom are first-generation Americans. My students have to translate their homework to their parents, meet the social and cultural expectations at home and at school, and still find time to give me a hard time when I make a spelling mistake on a presentation. These kids are incredible. After taking an overnight camping trip with them earlier this year, I can honestly say I am truly excited for the future of the world. With these students leading us, it is going to be more innovative, full of kindness, and safer than ever before.
These 5th grade students are creative, hardworking, and have a strong desire to learn.
They have a lot of passion: trying new things in and out of the classroom, constant movement, collaborating, and making the world a better place!
My Project
The materials in this project will be able to provide students the opportunity to grow throughout their 5th-grade year. From flexible seating to crafts to technology.
Students learn in a variety of ways, so I differentiate my classroom to best fit my students' needs.
Allowing students to choose how they learn best from where they sit from day to day to how they demonstrate their learnings (creating multimedia projects).
By providing the students with the materials in this project students will be pushed to the level of success we all know they are capable of. Students will learn about themselves in an open learning environment along with learning how to self-advocate.
