My Students

Who has helped change the world? How do YOU want to change the world? These are two important questions that my students ask each other throughout the year. Help increase their ability to answering that question!

What do you remember about your history classes?

Were they engaging, filled with exploration, questioning, and observations? My goal is to help my students examine the U.S. in a way that is engaging, exciting, and lasting. My 8th graders are curious and hopeful students; however, they come to school with many challenges already standing in their way. It is my goal to provide my students with the very best education possible. That is what every child deserves. However, poverty is a real challenge for many of my students, and they are affected by it every day. About 96.8% are eligible to receive free school lunches, and they are often lacking the resources needed to become successful students. As a teacher who is just starting his third year, I am still building my classroom to be full of rich resources and documents to help my instruction. Teachers are given very few resources to help create the classroom that welcomes and inspires students in an engaging way.

My Project

My students need English-Spanish and English-French dictionaries, various books, basic supplies like markers, and other materials to help examine primary sources. Additionally, I have requested supplies for my classroom such as a chart paper easel, post-it notes, and sentence strips to help make my classroom a more welcoming and engaging environment. All of these resources, together, help to create my vision of a classroom that makes history come alive!

Thank you again for your interest in my classroom project.

Every donation (no matter how big or small) is a vote of confidence for my students. During my last project, my students were amazed that some people who they didn't even know would care enough about them to donate school supplies to help them learn. I told them that these people believed in them, and it really helped inspire my students to push themselves to work harder and learn more every day.
