Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a group of 17 eager to learn Kindergartners! We have started our year through distance learning! It has been quite a challenge, but they have adapted well. They are understanding the online learning platform pretty well. They are full of life! They love to tell stories and show lots of respect to their peers and teachers. They love to listen to stories, dance and sing! I have 11 girls and six boys. Out of these 17 , five students receive special education services in speech therapy.

My students are learning to write, count to 100, and learn the letter names and sounds.

Which will eventually transition them to learn to blend and read simple words and sentences. We are working very hard to instill the love of reading. Listening to stories read aloud helps build an understanding of narrative structure as it fosters imagination and encourages visualization skills which is linked to improved reading comprehension. These are our Kindergarten Goals! Kinder Power!

My Project

Students will be able to engage in fun activities that I can access through Teacher Pay Teachers. Online learning can be very predictable and there is only so much that you can do. Therefore, if I can find some fun and engaging activities that the students can do at home during instruction or with their families it will definitely be a plus. Kindergarteners need to actually be doing hands on activities or they lose interest really fast. I have seen some really good educational hands on activities that I feel will help my students be successful in the distance learning platform.
