This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a Special Education teacher I have been teaching for three years in a multicultural school in the Bronx. Currently I am working in an Integrated Co Teaching classroom (ICT) with 24 students. 12 students are in general education and 12 students with disabilites such as speech impairment, ADHD and other health impairments. They are interested in learning, their excitement is demonstrated as they look forward to the material that is assigned in reading and math in their individual profiles.

My students are inquisitive, active, visual, auditory and hands on learners, they benefit from a variety of materials that keep them engaged and learning.

I am asking for your support to provide my students with a class set of headphones. These headphones will minimize the noise from their laptops as they do lessons in reading and math. The material is read to them and the noise level is high because many of the students' headphones are broken, and worn out from everyday use. It is hard for them to listen focus and complete their tasks.

I am asking for the wired mice. The mice will benefit my students as some of the laptops are hard to navigate using the mouse with their fingers and the touch mouse in the laptops are unresponsive and the students struggle completing their work.

I notice that their work is efficent and complete when they have all materials that are needed. My goal for them is to continue learning, and provide them with materials that will make their learning accessible.
