My Project

This project aims to provide students with lessons on how to play classic games such as chess, dominos, and cribbage. These games require a high level of thinking and the application of problem-solving, algebraic thinking, and strategy. Mathematical concepts are embedded in each of these games, providing an alternative way to engage kids in learning math. They will be utilized in study skills classes for students who are in recovery and students who are behind in their core subjects. In addition to traditional classrooms, the principal and school counselor can engage in conversations with students over a game. These types of games require concentration and are good for kids' mental health. While learning to play, students will have the opportunity to share and discuss issues with educators. Additionally, students will be able to play against each other and participate in competitions with their peers at lunch and recess during the winter months. Many students struggle with general math facts, algebraic thinking, and deductive reasoning. All of these items are incorporated into these classic games.
