My Students

I have the pleasure of working with a group of students who many have already written off. These students are in grades 5-8 and have all been diagnosed with emotional behavior disorders. I get the opportunity to not only educate these students academically, but also work with them on their social and emotional skills so they can be successful both now and in the future.

Our school is located in the inner city where crime and poverty are at a very high rate.

It is my goal each day to provide a safe and nurturing environment to all of my students.

My Project

As a teacher, I have always found that it is important for students to be proud of their work and one way to do that is by displaying it for others to see. By having a personal class printer, with color ink, we will be able to make our work come to life, one by being able to type it, but also by being able to add graphics to it.

All students regardless of what school they attend deserve the opportunity to have access to the same materials.

The students that I work with are from all different grade levels from 5 - 8 grade and therefore have all different academic as well as behavioral levels. Having the ability to use personal whiteboards in our classroom gives each student the opportunity to work at their own pace. Each student can take ownership of their and does not need to be afraid to make mistakes. These materials will engage the students in different activities as well as feel a sense of value in the work that they produce.
