Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Do you love math? I do and I want the same for my students! I teach a wonderful group of students at a Title I school. Over 70% of the students are Hispanic and are learning the English language.

My students are eager to learn and I want them to have the tools to help that happen!

Due to the language barrier and other socioeconomic factors, my students are not currently working on their grade level. They do not have the necessary prior knowledge or materials at home and have fallen behind their peers in mathematics. Many of them are not enthusiastic about learning math because it is difficult for them. It is hard for them to learn material on their grade level because they lack number sense and the basic skills.

The materials that have been selected for this project would help my students excel in Math! The Smart Games Math-Tac-Toe and The Target Game would be the perfect way to encourage cooperation and reinforce the math skills. My students sometimes have a hard time staying focused, and these will help engage them. The Clorox wipes will help us to stay healthy and present in school. The books are a great way to encourage a positive mindset, which sometimes we may need! These materials can help my students be successful in Math.
