Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have been a Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist for 3 years. Currently, I work at a Title I school in a high need district located in Inwood, a neighborhood in Manhattan, which means we serve a very diverse group of students who are most at risk for failing and children who are experiencing homelessness. My students are the sweetest kids whose drive is inspiring and never wavering despite their struggles.

As a bilingual provider working with children of diverse backgrounds, it has been a personal mission of mine to strive for equity by implementing cultural responsiveness in all my practices.

I purchase materials and books that promote inclusivity and demonstrate the representation they need in different languages which will allow them to explore a range of endless possibilities while mastering all of their academic and personal goals.

With your generous donations, I will be able to put the books and materials on display for them as they eagerly enter the speech room. I would like to have one bookshelf for bilingual Spanish and English books and the other for monolingual English books. Your donations will allow all of my students whose grades range from kindergarten to 8th grade the opportunity to feel special about not only coming to the speech room but also important as the very differences they possess are highlighted in such a beautiful way.

Due to lack of resources and funding, we were unable to purchase extra bookshelves for the therapy rooms. Your generous donation will make a grand impact on their lives as well as ours. This will allow us to present materials and display books in an organized manner.

I am so very grateful for this platform. I would like to thank you in advance for your time and generous donations. It’s truly appreciated.
