Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students will use these biography books in order to have a better understanding of the math and science concepts taught. These stories are about people or concepts that made major contributions to the world of Math, Science, and History. Many of the math concepts can be used in science as well math. The books will be read by the students and oral reports will be presented by the students. The letters will be used to create a SBE sign for our End of the Year Reading Party, where students dress up as their book character and give oral reports on their book. And the mini journals to take notes on their reading.

By combining math, science, history, and reading, I believe the students will have more success in achieving their full potential.

Many of these students do not have the means to buy books to read at home so having a large classroom library is critical. These books will enable the students to increase their reading comprehension skills as well as develop stronger math and science knowledge. When the students are having fun in a learning environment, they are learning more.
