My Project

I love this time of year. We are wrapping up with the curriculum and then we begin reviewing for the End of Grade test. With this project, I am planning on doing a few end of year review projects with my classes and hopefully get them excited and engaged to learn and review rather than them just sitting and doing practice sheets.

Students learn best by doing and I truly believe if we show students how math is connected to real life, they will want to understand it more.

This project will help with two end of year projects. First, with our data unit, we are going to do a basketball tournament where they will track brackets and predict who will win based on percents of baskets made and errors made. They will graph this data as well as keep up with the seeds and rounds for the brackets. The second project will be our annual Glow Day review. Students will be in the room with black lights and neon paper that glows with different math standards. They will wear their cool "glow gear" and partner up and collaborate to answer questions for the review. The kids absolutely love this each year and I get so excited to see them excited about getting the answers right!
