Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title-I school in Kansas City, have a highly diverse student profile.

- 30%: English Language Learners,

- 100%: Free Reduced Lunch

- 72%: Hispanic population, almost all will be the first generation to go to college.

- Some are recent immigrants.

My Project

The students get benchmark tests on a regular basis and their motivation decreased as it is a routine for them. However, as educators, we value every minor progress.

On the other hand, it gets harder to encourage students to pay attention to the questions and keep them doing work during the benchmark test.

Our goal is to help them increase their score to reach grade-level learning. The best strategy is to create a competitive environment where they are motivated to pass each other. Gift cards will provide the teachers with the opportunity to start the competition and help them stay focused during the benchmarks so that the students will reach their grade level academically.
