My Students

This year we have worked to increase student rigor by encouraging them to read, read, read. As a result, many of our seniors have improved their reading levels. Our students need to learn the connection between success in school today and future success.

Our school is a Title 1 school located in a community that is fighting for revitalization.

The once thriving community is seeking to regain its status as a vibrant one. That being said, there are many issues that need to be addressed to reach that point. Our graduating fifth grade class is an amazing group of students from differing backgrounds. However, these differences aren't very obvious when they enter our school, and become one school family. Our students face many adversities in their homes and community, but are extremely resilient and have goals that can lead them far away from the difficulties they face today.

My Project

Our graduating 5th grade students need encouragement and opportunities to learn that they can achieve success. The goal is for each student to receive a copy of the book 'Oh the Places You Will Go' upon graduating. The book will serve as a reminder that they can not only dream big, but they can achieve those dreams as well.

A donation to this project will equip our students with examples of what it looks like to dream big, and the fact that dreams do come through.

By receiving an individual copy of the book, student will have a constant reminder that they should never give up.
