My Project

I help run an after-school program at a Title I high school in Portland, Oregon. This programming is a space for students to work on homework, get support from mentors, and have a safe and supportive space to exist in after school from 3:30-5:30. My programming session usually consists of an hour of homework and then a group activity. We will often play Uno or Jenga or trivia games.

However, I want to be able to do more art with my students during my programming sessions to encourage more creative expression.

Many students are burnt out by schoolwork by the time they come to my afterschool session. They're tired of looking at their computers, taking notes, and working independently. I hope to inspire a sense of fun and creativity by offering more artistic opportunities with these materials.

We do not have the funding to afford these materials on our own. Your donations will directly impact kids who may not have access to creative expression in many other spaces. Thank you for caring about these students' access to art and creativity!
