This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are caring, curious and excited to face the world and bring their gifts and talents. They are increasingly aware of what they can offer and are willing to rise above life-circumstance to affect change within themselves and their community at large.

They are dreamers and inspired by change.

They are driven and some of the strongest individuals I have ever met with the most caring hearts imaginable.

My students are playful and have a love of life that is rare to find.

My Project

My students have been learning these past 3 years the value of healthy expression and socio-emotional learning, the importance of understanding their emotions and healthily coping. In our Health & Wellness classes we learn about our tendency to hold stress in the body and the importance of utilizing healthy resources when faced with adversity. I believe that journaling is a good way to do this.

I hope to encourage students to express themselves through writing down their feelings as well as remembering their dreams, especially during the summer months, to help them to become more self-aware and in turn empowered.
