This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hello! I am a second grade teacher at a Public School in Brooklyn, NY. Recently, our school has opened its doors to a new curriculum based program called "Core Knowledge." It is an outstanding curriculum focusing on Social Studies, Fiction, and other main areas. The Social Studies curriculum is fabulous in second grade. We are learning about Ancient culture such as China, Greece and India. We also are learning about America, the thirteen colonies, the War of 1812, Revolutionary War, and Westward Expansion to name just a FEW topics we will cover. We love learning about these great places so much, but we are in need of larger maps. We are in search of a classroom PULL DOWN MAP of the United States of America, New York and the World (separate continents also). This type of resource will help my students become familiar with their spatial sense of the world they live in. It will also allow them to see, up close, different continents and countries. We will be able to use it as a reference for projects and readings. My students love using the placemat maps we have in the class, but they are just too small. These pull down maps would be such a big help and a great resource for our new CORE KNOWLEDGE curriculum. THANK YOU!
