Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergarten students are English Language Learners who come to school eager to learn. kindergarten is a time of tremendous growth and learning. I have noticed that most of their time is spent on reading and math foundation skills, with less emphasis on science. Therefore, I am requesting science kits, toys, and books to enable my students to explore science and cultivate their curiosity. The iconic Mr. Potato Head toy to introduce my students to the five senses. This fun and memorable activity will help them understand the importance of our senses and how they work. I will also use the Educational Insights Sprout & Grow Window Plant Growing Kit and the Learning Resources Cross-Section Flower Model to teach my students about the various parts of a plant and how they grow. These activities will be a great way to help students understand complex concepts in a visual and interactive way. Lastly, I plan to use the Montessori Life Cycle Toys to demonstrate the life cycle of different animals. This will be a fun and engaging way for my students to learn about the various stages of growth and development in animals.
