This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a Reading Specialist at a Title 1 school, I am committed to helping my students unlock the power of reading and develop lifelong literacy skills. Many of my students face significant challenges in their reading development, and they need targeted, structured support to build the foundation they need to become confident, successful readers.

One of the most effective tools for young readers is decodable books—text that matches the phonics skills they are learning.

These books allow students to practice their phonics knowledge in real reading contexts, helping them to gain fluency, confidence, and comprehension. Unfortunately, the current collection of decodable readers in our classroom is lacking variety, leaving students with limited opportunities to practice these essential skills.

That’s where you come in! Your generous donation will provide a set of high-quality decodable readers that are carefully leveled to match the individual learning needs of my students. These books are not only designed to support phonics instruction but also to engage students with captivating, age-appropriate stories that will inspire their love for reading.
