Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything." This quote by Plato describes my classroom. My students are bursting with energy everyday they come to school. They are motivated to learn and soar to new heights when I play music or sing.

I teach first and second grade children in a 12:1:1 Special Education class.

My students are below standards in all academic areas. They are classified as Learning Disabled, Speech and Language Impaired, Emotional Disturbed, and Other Health Impairments. During literacy lessons, my students misbehave to avoid completing the task. Moreover, they are easily distracted and lose focus during independent reading and writing activities. I am requesting a listening center to enhance the literacy lessons in my classroom.

My Project

Throughout the school day, I incorporate music and physical movement to engage my students in the learning process. Listening to music and audio-books will help develop my student's reading and comprehension skills. My students will feel confident to read a book independently. Additionally, my students will be empowered to read, write, and attend to a task.

A multisensory approach helps children to learn and retain information taught in school.

I believe a listening center will increase my student's reading levels. A CD player and audio visual materials will provide my students with fun and exciting activities in the classroom.
