Empowering Young Minds: Enhancing Creativity and Learning with iPads

Help me give my students the devices they need for creative activities in our school, such as movie production, animation, podcasting, and more.

My Project

In a world where kids are glued to screens, Hawthorne School Library has decided to take a bold step forward—by giving kids even more screens! But don’t worry, these aren’t just any screens; they’re magical, creativity-boosting, brain-expanding iPads!

These devices will be instrumental in fostering creativity and enhancing student learning through a variety of innovative projects.

We are committed to providing our students with the tools and resources they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Our old iPads were retired by the IT department, as they operating system was too old to run modern apps, and connecting them to our wifi was deemed a security risk!

The introduction of a few new iPads into our library will open up new avenues for creativity and expression, allowing students to engage in projects such as book trailers, student newscasts, animations, and other multimedia.

Book Trailers: With iPads, students can create engaging book trailers that bring their favorite stories to life through video, animation, and sound. This project not only encourages reading but also helps students develop skills in storytelling, video production, and editing.

Student Newscasts: The ability to produce student newscasts will give our students a platform to report on school events, interview peers and staff, and share important information with the school community. This hands-on experience will teach them valuable skills in journalism, communication, and teamwork.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a library without a few rules. No, they can’t use the iPads to play endless games of "Angry Birds". Instead, these powerful devices are tools for learning and creativity. I will be right there to guide students, ensuring that they’re not just consuming content, but creating it—after all, we want to empower these young minds, not turn them into couch potatoes!
