Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright, eager learners in a dual-language elementary school near the U.S.-Mexico border. With over 98% identified as at-risk, they face many challenges. Despite these obstacles, they come to school full of energy and ready to learn and grow.

This project introduces financial literacy concepts at an early age which is crucial for long-term success.

With your support, my students will develop smart financial habits while enjoying practical rewards. They will learn the value of work and savings, and they will learn how to prioritize their needs and wants. Every item they earn will not only benefit them immediately but will also reinforce skills they can carry into adulthood.

This project will bring financial literacy to life by creating a classroom store where students can purchase items using points or classroom currency they earn through academic achievements, behavior, and teamwork. This store will give them valuable lessons in saving, budgeting, and decision-making. Many of my students may not have access to these lessons at home, and the classroom store will provide a safe, supportive environment to practice essential life skills.
