Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are deeply invested in the growth and well-being of all our students. Each of them brings a unique perspective and potential to the learning environment. What truly makes our students special is their diversity, both in terms of backgrounds and experiences. Each student brings a unique story to the classroom, and it's this diversity that enriches our learning community.

With your help, students will have access to mindfulness activities, sensory objects, and relaxation supports which will allow us to teach our students to manage stress, regulate their emotions, and develop a greater sense of self-awareness.

Our goal is to equip our students with the essential life skills crucial for academic success but also for building meaningful relationships and navigating the complexities of the world. We strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves authentically and seeking support when needed. By fostering a strong sense of belonging and emotional resilience, we aim to empower our students to overcome challenges and setbacks.

In this room, students will be able to access a variety of resources to help them decompress. The items we are requesting will promote social emotional learning to ease stress and increase productivity. With clinical support staff, students will learn to use weighted blankets, noise canceling head phones, coloring books, Kinetic sand, Play-doh and fidgets. Additionally, we are requesting differentiated seating and lighting to aid in supporting a variety of student sensory needs. The boardgames will be used to reinforce prosocial skills and time to connect with others.

This initiative hopes to provide students with a safe space and the tools they need to succeed emotionally, socially and academically.
