My Project

I have the privilege of teaching an incredible group of 17- to 18-year-old students who are working hard to develop communication and vocational skills that will prepare them for life beyond high school. Many of my students have significant language delays, but they are eager to learn and thrive when given hands-on, structured learning experiences that connect to real-world tasks.

My goal with this project is to create an in-house print shop where my students can learn workplace skills by printing, laminating, and assembling materials for our school community.

This will provide them with a valuable, functional skillset they can use in future employment settings, such as office work, school support roles, or small business environments.

A high-quality printer and ink will allow students to print books, worksheets, and schedules for teachers and classmates.

A laminator will help them create durable materials, teaching them how to follow multi-step instructions.

Organizers and storage bins will support task management and organization skills, essential for workplace readiness.

These resources will not only teach technical skills but also foster independence, confidence, and teamwork, as students take on responsibilities, fulfill orders, and contribute to their school community.

My students are resilient, hardworking, and eager to learn. Despite the challenges they face with communication, they show determination and excitement when given meaningful tasks that allow them to see the impact of their work. They thrive on structure and purpose, and this project will give them a tangible way to apply their skills, engage with others, and prepare for the workforce.
