My Students
I teach a group of wonderful 2nd graders in Camden City school district. All 21 of my students receive free lunch and my class is a general education class with two ESL students.
This year my students enjoy writing and being creative in our classroom Writing Center.
I hear many times a day "Can I go to the writing center?" It saddens me when I have to limit the number of sheets of paper and supplies. So I thought of this project.
My Project
My students will benefit from this project because it will allow them to be more creative in the Writing Center without my current daily limitations. I am pleased and excited that my students want to visit the Writing Center.
The materials listed in my project will enable me to replenish supplies more, so students won't be limited to their creations as they are now.
I have tried to purchase materials on my own, but I often run out and students ask me for more.
I have found through the years that students who enjoy writing become better writers by practicing. In the Writing Center the "Sky is the Limit" of what they could do. As a teacher who write poetry and plays in my spare time, it's important to me to encourage my young writers daily.
