My Project

COVID-19 increased many learning, social, and emotional gaps in students. The students were not exposed to in-person instruction or opportunities to practice social skills. This has resulted in not only learning loss but students abilities to problem-solve and communicate. The students' attention spans have also seemed to be impacted. It is important to add hands-on learning opportunities to engage students in which they can also practice social skills such as communication and teamwork while connecting their learning to real-world application.

The requested gardening supplies will help to combat learning losses due to COVID-19 because it provides children with a hands-on experience of planting while connecting it to the reading and research to have a successful harvest.

It also provides students an opportunity to use teamwork and communication to plan the garden bed, to share the harvest, and to present what their garden has produced.
