Empowering Students through Graphic Arts and Photography

My students need a Canon Rebel T6 digital camera, tripod, memory cards, rechargeable batteries and charger, and flash to photograph original artwork for the production of greeting cards.

My Students

My students are high school students with severe autism. They attend a specialized school and learn graphic arts in my class. The students work on collaborative projects and are involved in all aspects of the design, creation and production of greeting cards from their original artwork. They also run the card store for the school. The cards are purchased by people in the community., too

Because of their disabilities, my students need hands-on learning opportunities.

Theses students need to be given the opportunity to explore and develop interests and talents in art and to enhance these skills to further employment opportunities within this field.

My Project

My students will use these materials to develop and explore their interests and talents in the arts by working on collaborative projects to create greeting cards from their paintings and other artwork. Because of their physical limitations, the students need a tripod to help them stabilize the camera. They need the camera bag to enable them to take pictures in the community. Many of their pictures are taken indoors, so the flash will be put to good use.

The students will apply the skills they learn to enhance their employment opportunities in this field.

Students will become knowledgeable about career opportunities, in the fields of arts, business, as well as retail.
