My Project
I am a speech-language pathologist in a PreK-8th grade equity focused school. I work with students who are determined, resilient, and eager to learn despite their struggles. Many of our students face difficulties with reading and language processing, particularly those with dyslexia or related learning disabilities. They require targeted tools to bridge the gap between their potential and their current abilities. Dyslexia reading pens are a powerful resource that can help students overcome the barriers that make reading so frustrating. Bluetooth headphones can also be used for silent reading in class.
The magic is in the pen!
By scanning and reading text aloud, the pen provides instant feedback, empowering students to access grade-level material independently. For students in speech therapy, this tool supports phonemic awareness, vocabulary building, and fluency. Importantly, it fosters a sense of achievement, helping students develop confidence in their skills. The dyslexia reading pens will not only help them with their immediate academic goals, but, will also teach them lifelong strategies for learning and self-advocacy.
