This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is excited to continue launching our EPACS student store as part of our Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. This initiative will serve as a cornerstone of our efforts to reinforce positive behaviour and teach essential life skills, while fostering a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and community among our students. To bring this vision to life, we need your support to provide startup materials and resources.

Like many schools, we strive to create an environment where positive behaviours are encouraged and rewarded.

However, traditional incentives often feel disconnected from students' interests or fail to provide lasting impact. We want to address this by empowering students to take ownership of their rewards through a student-run store, where they can "purchase" items using points earned for demonstrating positive behaviours such as kindness, responsibility, and perseverance.

The student store will be an engaging and educational way to reinforce positive behaviour. Students will earn PBIS points throughout the school day and exchange them for items from the store. This not only motivates students to consistently exhibit good behaviour but also teaches important lessons about goal-setting, budgeting, and delayed gratification. The store will also provide students with hands-on experience in running a business. Selected students will manage inventory, track purchases, and assist their peers in selecting items—developing their skills in math, communication, and organisation.

By supporting this project, you’re not just funding a store—you’re investing in a tool that will shape our students’ character and future success. Together, we can make our school a place where positive behaviour is celebrated and life skills are cultivated.
