Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I absolutely love the determination, creativity, and unique perspectives that my students with autism bring to the classroom every day. Each of them has their own way of processing the world, and it is a joy to support them as they navigate their educational journey. Many of my students are non-verbal, and they rely on visual supports to help them communicate and make sense of their surroundings. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch their faces light up when they can understand and express themselves through pictures, symbols, and written words.

The printer I'm requesting will be an invaluable tool in creating these visual supports.

It will allow me to produce personalized communication boards, schedules, and learning materials that are tailored to each student's needs. By having the ability to print these resources quickly and efficiently, I can ensure that each student has access to the tools they need to participate in the classroom and communicate with their peers and teachers.

My goal for this project is to enhance my students' independence and engagement in their learning. With visual aids readily available, my students will have more opportunities to interact with the curriculum, make choices, and express themselves in meaningful ways. This will not only improve their ability to learn but also boost their confidence and sense of agency in the classroom.

What makes my students special is their resilience and their capacity for growth. Despite the challenges they face, they continue to show up every day with enthusiasm and curiosity. They may communicate differently, but that doesn’t make them any less capable of learning, growing, and thriving. This printer will help me support them in their educational journey, giving them the tools they need to succeed in a way that honors their unique strengths.
