Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach 10th-grade Global History in an ICT (inclusive co-taught) classroom at a school, where many of my students are English Language Learners (ELLs) or have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). My students are bright and determined, but they face challenges that make accessing and processing curriculum more difficult without additional support. This project will provide essential resources to ensure every student feels cared for and equipped to succeed.

Struggling readers and students with learning differences deserve access to curriculum that meets their needs; providing these resources communicates to my students that their success matters.

In our classroom, we strive to build confidence and celebrate progress. A color printer will allow me to create visually engaging, color-coded worksheets and materials that help clarify complex historical concepts. For students with IEPs, color coding improves organization and comprehension. For ELLs, it simplifies language barriers and makes lessons more accessible. These tools not only aid understanding but also show students that their unique challenges are acknowledged and supported.

By creating materials that reflect their needs, I aim to foster trust, connection, and a belief that they are capable of overcoming obstacles. This project is about more than just academic success—it’s about creating an inclusive, supportive environment where all students feel valued and empowered.

I created a separate donors choose project for my advisory group which has a separate set of needs .
