Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a wonderful group of seventh graders that have impressed me from my first day being employed as an English Language Arts teacher at my wonderful school. I am always amazed at what my students know and can do.

Everyday they surprise me at what they can do, as we go through our daily work.

One of our recent readings has been the fairytales of the Brother's Grimm. They amazed me on how well they analyzed the readings. They were annotating, figuring out main idea and theme, and analyzing different symbols found in the text.

My Project

As a middle school teacher, it is my passion to see my students develop a genuine love for reading. I want to see them become lifelong readers and learners who are driven to change the world. More so, reading is crucial to their development as critical thinkers. It increases their vocabulary and literacy skills to be successful in school and the real world. Reading also feeds into their passions and imaginations. A good book can lead a student down a road of discovery and excitement; it fosters their desire to learn. Having a library of choice, books that interest students are key to keeping them reading. I know my students are looking for fun and culturally relative books for themselves. Stories that they can see themselves in. My students deserve to have the best library for them.
