My Project

Developing financial literacy skills is essential for students with cognitive disabilities as it empowers them to achieve greater independence and actively participate in daily life. Financial literacy teaches critical life skills, such as recognizing and managing money, budgeting, and making informed purchasing decisions. These skills help foster confidence and self-reliance, enabling students to navigate real-world scenarios like grocery shopping, using ATMs, and handling transactions.

The following Lakeshore Learning materials are specifically chosen to support my students in building these practical financial literacy skills through hands-on, engaging activities: Cash Register provides a realistic experience of handling money, learning to count, and processing transactions.

Lakeshore Real-Working ATM Bank allows students to practice identifying coins and bills while reinforcing math and money-handling skills. Lakeshore Grocery Set helps students simulate ATM transactions, teaching them to check balances, withdraw cash, and save money responsibly. Lakeshore Let’s Go Shopping Grocery Baskets, it offers a variety of items to create realistic shopping experiences where students can practice budgeting and decision-making.

These resources will create meaningful opportunities for my students to develop the financial literacy skills they need for a more independent and fulfilling life. Your support in providing these materials will have a lasting impact on their ability to navigate everyday financial situations confidently.
