My Project

Empowering girls in STEM education is an initiative I am passionate about. Despite the significant strides made toward gender equality, girls remain underrepresented in STEM fields. This project aims to inspire, engage, and equip young girls with the knowledge and confidence.

This design/build STEM initiative with Legos will give girls in sixth grade, 12 year-olds who are currently enrolled in a STEM magnet school program, an additional STEM design/build project, mentorship, and encouragement during their 6th grade year in the STEM program.

This project will target girls in sixth grade, 12 year-olds, who are currently enrolled in a STEM magnet school program that has 70% male enrollment and 30% female enrollment. These girls come from diverse backgrounds, including those with limited access to technology, or from communities where girls traditionally face more barriers to pursuing STEM subjects.

This project will provide a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for girls to explore STEM concepts through hands-on activities, mentorship, and exposure to role models who have succeeded in STEM careers. Students will build Lego flowers as a team. By providing a platform for girls to develop critical problem-solving skills and creativity, this project will help close the gender gap in STEM education and ultimately inspire a new generation of female innovators.

Empowering girls in STEM education is crucial for ensuring that they have equal opportunities to explore careers in these critical fields. By investing in this initiative, we are not only investing in the future of individual students but also contributing to the greater diversity and innovation needed in STEM fields.
