Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In the vibrant halls of our school, I'm continually inspired by my students' resilience and curiosity. Having discovered the transformative power of fencing during my middle and high school years, I'm eager to pay it forward by introducing them to this sport of discipline and camaraderie.

My aim for this project is to provide my students with access to fencing gear they wouldn't otherwise have, and to instill in them the invaluable lessons I learned through fencing.

The equipment provided will directly impact my students' learning journey, enabling them to don fencing masks for safety and confidence and utilize chest protectors and gloves to enhance their performance.

With these resources, I plan to conduct hands-on training sessions where students will learn the proper fencing techniques. Fencing masks will ensure their safety as they practice footwork and engage in simulated bouts. Chest protectors will give them the confidence to fully commit to their movements, while gloves will improve their grip and dexterity with the weapon.
