Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an elementary school counselor, I am constantly inspired by my students and their unique qualities. What I love most about my students is their resilience and determination. Despite facing challenges and obstacles, they continue to show up every day with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

My students are special because they come from a variety of backgrounds and have a wide range of experiences.

They each bring their own perspectives and insights, which makes for a rich and diverse learning environment.

With the help of these materials, I can help my students build important social-emotional skills that will serve them well throughout their lives. The books will allow me to design engaging lessons that help students develop self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and social skills. Through play, LEGOs can help to promote social interaction, learning to share and take turns, along with developing collaborative problem-solving skills. Lastly, the puppets are a tool for assisting students to communicate any distress in their life without having to claim painful experiences and emotions as their own.

Through these lessons, my students will develop the skills and confidence they need to navigate difficult situations, build positive relationships, and thrive academically and personally. Prospective donors can picture a school full of engaged and curious students, eager to learn and grow. They can imagine the impact of these materials on the lives of these young learners, helping them to become kinder, more resilient, and more empathetic individuals.
